April Meeting

You the members will provide the core of the April meeting.

We ask each of you to think of what your favorite coin or coins in your collections and then bring one or two of them to the meeting and share your likes with each other. We should have quite a variety and have a lot of fun with this. Do not worry, you do not have to pass them around if you do not want to. We can come to you and look at them

Old Business

Mike received ECC materials back from Jennifer (previous secretary).

$68.00 is still available for the YNs from the Schaumburg Coin Club. It was decided to spend it on money type coins for the monthly YN membership drawings.

New Business

Mike wanted to know it anyone had completed the survey printed at the end of last month's newsletter. He also stated that a program on wooden nickels would be presented sometime this year. And he also received an email from someone selling state quarters at $12.50 a roll and that anyone interested should contact him for the email address.

Don has someone scheduled to give a talk on ancient coins for the October meeting.

Roger had a pioneer sculpture and showed a plaque for the Elgin Image Award for the Pioneer Memorial Foundation.

At 8:15 we took a break to sell raffle tickets. The raffle winners were Marty (2), Bruce, Pete and Jerry.

Member: Mike C.
YN: Beth

The member auction started at 8:35 P.M.

The meeting closed around 9:10 P.M.

Important: A 1997 Silver Eagle was accidentally picked up and needs to be returned, so the auction winner can have his coin.

Board Meeting

As always, Don, Doug, Jim D. and I met at Don's, this time March 21, for the ECC board meeting. Among other things, we talked about the following.

I gave Don information on several wooden nickel companies.

Jim Davis volunteered to give a talk August on the new Euro coinage scheduled to be introduced in 2002.

I reported that I have received only one survey back from the members. We sure would like some input into what we do for programs.

We also talked about the possibility of issuing a souvenir card similar to those issued by the Chicago Coin Club (CCC) at the paper money show. The CCC's cards reproduce banknotes of obsolete Chicago banks. We could do ours on obsolete Elgin and area banks. The idea was tabled for now. Any thoughts from members?

In between the work, we talked a lot about coin things that didn't have anything to do with the club too. That is we had our usual fun numismatic bull session.
